The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is the professional body for speech and language therapists in the UK. It provides leadership and set professional standards for approximately 16,000 speech and language therapists.
Over the last few years, an increasing number of statistics and reports have been published showing the overwhelming link between criminal activity and speech, language and communication difficulties. The cost to the individual and society is vast.
We believe this situation can be addressed by:
- ensuring all people – children, young people and adults - who have speech, language and communication difficulties have access to the speech and language therapy services they need;
- providing training and support for professionals working anywhere along the criminal justice pathway
The Box: What’s it like to be inside? was developed to provide this much needed training.
